The 12th Duuzran we’d like to feature is our Singapore-based Project Manager, Liying!

Hi Ying, thank you for taking the time to speak with us today. We are excited to get to know you better!

What do you like about events?
I love that we get to meet different people through events – it allows me to ‘live in the moment’. When an event goes well, the reaction and response is almost immediate and it’s satisfying to see everyone enjoying themselves! Plus, you get to travel around a lot which brings you to new places, cities and even venues that you’ve never been exposed to before.

Biggest Frustration?
Murphy’s Law – anything that can go wrong, will go wrong. The best way to prepare for this is to have a good checklist in hand so that you’ll be able to consider all the possibilities that might happen (based on past experiences) and wish upon the stars that nothing new pops up!

Best Piece of Advice?
Always get to the venue earlier than expected. If anything happens, stay calm. Network and build your connections. Be friendly and never burn bridges! Lastly, have a lot of fun! Your reward will be right there waiting for you.

What’s on your desk?
My mobile phone, earpiece, water bottle, note book and my favorite red shaker pencil. I feel that everyone has a color that they will go crazy over and mine’s definitely red. If I see anything in red, I can’t help but get it! Oh, I also have stacks of torn envelopes! I use them to scribble stuff while I’m on a call or pen down ‘to-do’ reminders, so I can just throw them away when it’s filled (haha that’s the OCD side of me)

Most used app on your phone?
WhatsApp – I’m practically on it every other minute. My clients and friends always know where to find me! I have so many conversations and groups that I never delete – they pile up and at some point, it gets tough to find the contact that I wish to chat with! But, I’m super thankful for the search function now – I loveeeeee it.

Favorite city in the world?
At this moment, my favorite city is Taipei – I love their music scene, friendliness and food. Oh my gosh, the food at their night markets is the best you can find… and they’re everywhere!

On weekends you can find me:
Binging on Netflix! I am in love with Grey’s Anatomy right now – I’ve almost completed all the seasons and there’s 15 of them! I also absolutely love to café (restaurant) hop and go to new places to try out their specialties. Café hopping is a trendy thing in Singapore and it’s probably because of the ‘food paradise’ name we have over here!

Thank you, Liying!

Next on the “Faces of Duuzra”, we will be speaking with one of our US based Project Managers, Stephanie.

See you next time!
